CLEO (Community Legal Education Ontario)

Family Justice

Housing Help Centre of York Region
The Housing Help Centre maintains a housing registry to assist individuals in securing affordable accommodation that exists in the private rental market. The Centre is operated by the Affordable Housing Committee of York Region, a not-for-profit advocacy group made up of community volunteers and funded by the Regional Municipality of York. Legal Aid - Community Legal Clinic of York Region
Legal support services for low-income people. Assistance with Ontario Works, Employment Insurance and Ontario Disability Support Program claims. www.clcyr.on.ca

Salvation Army

Family Services York Region

Blue Hills Child and Family Centre
Family Mediation Services provide on site mediation services to deal with minor issues and judge-referred mediations on narrow issues related to family problems such as disagreements about the care and custody of children after separation and visiting arrangements. Off site family mediation available for resolving care and custody disputes, visitation arrangements, child and spousal support payments and the division of property and assets. Next Step Family Counseling
Next Step Family Counseling provides a little help to work out life's problems. Counseling services are provided to help develop the skills to manage a stressful and change environment. No concern is too large or too small.http://www.nxstep.org/5.html
Women's Support Network
Women’s Support Network responds to individuals who have been affected by sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, sexual harassment, date rape and any form of violence. The Crisis Line operates 24-hours/per day every day of the year. Victim Services of York Region
Victim Services of York Region provides relief of short-term needs of persons victimized by crime or tragic circumstance by providing emotional support, practical assistance, and referrals to community resources for continued support. www.victimservices-york.org
York Region Shelters - Blue Door Shelters
Blue Door Shelters provide short-term, emergency shelters. Serving all of York Region they provide residents with: accommodation and food, supportive counseling, life skill learning opportunities, help to find and maintain permanent housing. www.bluedoorshelters.ca 905-898-1015
Leader Place Emergency Family Shelter in Newmarket
Leader Place and Porter Place (men's shelter in Newmarket) are emergency shelter accommodations available in York Region. 905-898-1658
Sandgate Women's Shelter
Sandgate provides a full range of supports and services to women and their children who have experienced violence. Programs Include: emergency crisis shelters, 24 hour crisis telephone support, transitional support and housing, second stage housing apartments. www.sandgate.ca
Yellow Brick House
Yellow Brick House provides emergency shelter and outreach services. The emergency shelter offers a safe place for women leaving their abusive relationships, while outreach services offers an array of services and programs to women and their children in various stages of their abusive relationship. All services are free of charge, fully confidential and are available in a variety of languages. www.yellowbrickhouse.org

The York Small Business Enterprise Centre is part of a network of offices that serve Ontario's small business community. Here to help you with your business start-up, the Centre also works with enterprises that have been in existence for less than 5 years. Hiding Your Internet Activity
It's important to realize that the record of your Internet activities does not disappear when you close your browser. If you are concerned that someone else may be viewing/checking your Internet history activities, you can delete these sites (history) that you have visited from your computer by completing the following: (Note: To identify your web browser: Help menu > About).
If you are using Internet Explorer:
- Open Internet Explorer
- Tools menu > Internet Options
- General
- Temporary Internet Files section > Delete Files
- History > Clear History
- OK
If you are using Mozilla Firefox:
- Open Firefox
- Click History at the top of the window
- "Tools" menu > "Options" > "Privacy" button, and under "History" click the "Clear" or "Clear Now" button
If you are using Google Chrome:
- Open Chrome
- Click on the "wrench" icon
- Move your mouse over "Tools," then select "Clear browsing data..."
If you are unsure about these instructions, it might be better to use Internet in a public space, such as the library, school or Internet cafe.
