Bridging the Gap offers a variety of services to help women move from financial vulnerability toward sustainability for up to 12 months. Women participate in a 5-week financial literacy series and a minimum of 4 resource workshops per year. Monthly, we host our Last-Week-of-the-Month food support program. Seasonal supports are also provided through annual campaigns such as Winter Hamper and Back-to-School.
At Women's Centre of York Region we have found that when a woman is supported with her basic needs, she can better focus on her emotional recovery and increase her financial stability with dignity. Program Principles:After their initial intake, women meet with the Bridging the Gap Client Coordinator for an assessment to develop individualized goals as well as a unique action plan that guides them through the range of services available and which would be of most benefit to them. There is ample opportunity to connect with a BTG coordinator throughout their time with the program to address any changes or challenges they might be facing.
